Throughout one’s lifetime, there are prescribed Jewish traditions culturally and religiously. From the time of birth, Judaism honors a newborn with a baby naming or bris, welcoming the child into the world. As we mature, there are a series of traditions that follow including a child’s bar or bat mitzvah when they enter the world of adulthood, standing under the chuppah at a wedding, or unveiling a monument a year after one passes. Whether one is traditionally observant or not, Judaism provides for certain milestones with a rubric of traditions and practices.
We invite you to join us for a discussion about Jewish lifecycle events and the meanings and traditions affiliated. Learn about why Jews name after the deceased, why a couple signs a Ketubah at their wedding, and why some Jews choose to bury their loved ones in a shroud and wooden casket.
We look forward to speaking with you, hearing your questions, and exploring these topics together.
